George W. Gainey, Esq., who was accidentally
shot during the Astor Opera-House riots, while
leaving the cars for his residence in the vicinity ;
V`. Bowditch Blunt, Esq., our late popular Dis-
trict Attorney ; and Morris Robinson, Esq., the
first President of the Mutual Life Insurance
Company, who, showing his faith by his works,
assured his life in the Company, whose success
he had so much at heart : his family were duly
paid the amount of the policy. But it is useless
to multiply instances showing the beneficial
effects of Life Assurance ; they are scattered
broadcast over the length and breadth of the
land.
These few instances, which could be increased
without limit, show that it is uncertain how
much or how little, a life policy may cost, be-
fore its protection is required by a family. In
this uncertainty lies the danger to be guarded
against.
